Day one of Placement...Sweaty, but chill

In other words, it was like a heat wave, and ick windows and running around didn't exactly help much, but it wasnt as bad as I presumed.

It was busy though, thats a given, but I didn't kill myself trying to do stuff myself and I didn't have somebody looming over me questioning "so what do you think you're doing now ?" and you just feel like smiling at them behind gritted teeth "I'm milking a flippin' cow - what does it look like ?!" Ugh yeah y'know what I mean.

I hope I get on with my preceptors. And it'll be a bonus if I get my medication management done this placement so I won't be worrying so much. Gonna meet one of my preceptors tomorrow (She's a CNM - eek ?) and see what she says. Hope she likes me. The patients did, and so did most relatives and nurses, I think......I do think I gave off a lot of positive energy from having low expectations of the ward, and be magically "surprised" when I realise that it's not toooo bad. I guess it's also a masking mechanism for the mini disaster this morning....Bro feigned a headache so he didnt have to drive me to work.....I got so upset, I just went out, just in time to get the bus. My poor mum was so worried she went out after me....ugh. Then I felt really guilty for making her worry on top of everything. Then He gave out to everyone, and suggested at dinner that I take the bus in the morning = wake up at 5:45am = thanks for the support, bro.

Guys, it's really no problem, I had never requested Bro to drive me, it was all dad's suggestion. Then it was suddenly, ooh moqi the meanie is making him get up early.....I never said "no", mind. Of course it's wayyyy more comfy to be driven to work. Besides, Bro always comes back home and sleep till 1pm or so, so it's not like forcing him to get up and not letting him sleep. I can understand it's annoying buh duude.....ugh I dunno how hated I am in this household and now I just don't care. I was sooooo happy coming home after along hard dehydrated day and then halfway through dinner being told I was useless and mentally retarded just made me wonder....why am I happy again ?

Tomorrow, then two days off. Classsssssssssssssssss.

Feeling pretty crappy right now....

You know that feeling when you've got people to talk to on the internet, just no one physically with you and you feel so so sooooo insanely lonely ? Him giving out about how useless you are, a reluctant to bring you to work brother and this feeling of impending doom about getting up in about 6 hours time to go to some place you despise with all your soul......does very little to help.

I literally feel sick. Pass me a virtual bucket please.

One day I will go to China and have funn ._. Yes funn. With 2 "n"s for emphasis on the fun-ness of it all...
(Sorry guys, I'm just being a hermit ughhh).

My video making is going nowhere, but I'm determined to get it done. Determination is my only source of motivation right now. Just thinking about placement tomorrow makes me want to shrink and crawl back into my mother's womb and diffuse into nothingness purely by travelling back in time but yeah, that doesn't happen in real life all that often ._. The fact that I've been off work so long and that I have barely opened a book doesn't reassure this lazy heart of a paubernugglet ._.

Ugh. Pray for me.

Busy working on those video ideas....

Got themes for all of them, just two more to go, them I'll start making the actual videos. I know people got more resources and probably wayyyy more creative ideas than I can probably ever dream of, in comparison to my little laptop and equally little brain ._. So I could kinda guess what I'm up against and that my hopes of ever reaching the top 25 is as much of a chance as meeting Jackie Chan, but hey, might as well give it a shot. And y'know what, I'm actually enjoying doing this, makes me feel motivated and makes the day seem more meaningful.

Trying on my contact lenses.....whoaaaaaaaaa.........Don't have that much time to tryout anymore considering I am starting placement again next week. Doing Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.... not toooo bad, eh ? And the secretary sounds nice, which helps.

Dyes, Bdays and Promotion !

I dyed my hair this morning, and I have to say it didn't turn out too bad at all. Not the original Juicy Peach colour from Palty as I had wanted, but not far !

It looks like that in the sun, and slightly more red ! I think the colour will change, become lighter after a wash or two, because thats how my hair usually absorbs the dye...Will keep you posted on the final result !
So I used this....

Not a fan of the gloves, cuz i thought they were too "plastic bag like", they made a hell lotta noise that no one in the morning will ever thank me for making, and they were wayyyy too big, so I actually stuck to the ones for the brown dye I was gonna mix in. I'm glad I didn't otherwise it would've been too dark -.-

So I went out with the girls today and two of her guy friends, they all seem sound. Never had so much suchi in my life....and I think I'm addicted to wasabi !

Oh and attention to all those beautiful ladies and little ladies who go to Dublin City Centre; from Morse Street's entrance into the ilac Centre, a few stalls down, I think it's across from "Pagoda", there is a stall held by a pretty Chinese girl....loads of pretty hair accessories and jewellery. I got myself this hair clip

Too dark to see my hair colour ._.

bought Mum a bracelet...and got these rings for free

Go check it out sometime !

It's half 6 in the evening and.....yeah

Ok, since my last blog I have....
  • Been an fb / chat / YouTube addict (no surprises there)
  • Did TWO hair strand tests, first one was too red, which wasn't surprising either because I was chatting and like totally forgot about it. Second one....I'm liking, because I mixed it with a mahogany brown, and it gives off a bit of auburn effect. And just in case you're wondering, I didn't get auburn hair dye because there is not a chance in the world it would work on my dark dark hair. So there.
  • I wrapped the presents. Yayyy.
What I STILL have to do is...
  • Ask him for permission to go out tomorrow ¬_¬
  • Ask about my roster for next week. Hey ho, you will get a lot more bad temper and bitching on this site next weeks so be prepared. In fact, get one of those shields as thick as Obama's car door (0:35)

Yeah, you'll need one of those before you get attacked by my ginormous spit balls of insanity ¬.¬

Phew !

So glad that I just typed down my ideas for that Jimmy Wong contest video in time....He started screaming and shouting and giving out about bullshit important stuff and I would probably have forgotten my wee masterpiece ¬_¬ That was a close call. Now I just have to worry about.....everything else ._. Hurrah.

So I've gotten and decided who is getting what for their birthdays...I'll just have to make sure I got enough wrapping paper :s those are quite scarce in this, uhm, ungenerous little household. I als gotta make sure I can go tomorrow, and be able to stay late. See this is what I hate most guys, I have a really goood time with the girls, then I have to worry about not getting his calls on time or going home late. It really kills the mood, y'know ? and it's always the "I gotta go, oh btw to get me home on time so can you give me a lift home ?" that ruins things for everyone, even on their birthdays. So deep down, I am kinda dreading it, despite the fact that I do wanna see the girls.

Anyway,on a more positive topic, a very Big SHOUTOUT to my sister who is going to the UK for a few days tomorrow. Safe trip and hope you have lotsa funnnn. Less than three.

Ok so today turned out to be funnn.

And for once I'm not being sarcastic. Oh before I forget, this is so cool:

Went out with my sis and.......it was a nice day. Looked around the shops and did small shopping and finally got my hair colourant which to the naked eye looks pretty vibrant and possibly the most unnursey thing ever, but because my hair is so dark it might even out a bit. I'll give it shot tonight or tomorrow and we'll see how it goes ehh.

Got some "magic" rubber bands too.....24 altogether for just 1 euro ! Not bad for this little island eh ? Whats special about them is that they make up a shape and stay in that shape.

I got two sets. You can wear them on your wrist like a bracelet...

......which changes colour in sunlight ^-^

The other set which we got for free consists of some pretty awesome Irishness....

I was trying to be cool and played around with one of them trying to create rubberband origami stars and whatnot but it snapped ._. I got some eyelash glue and pieced it back together but it will never dever not ever be the same again dawwww ._.

You can't really see it in this picture but the crack (a faint white line) should be at the tip of the right ear. Well I thought it was an ear ._. of a wee kitty cat =^-^= but nuuuu it's actually a crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.....

So yes, folks, moqi the eejit basically just slashed her own crock of gold ._. good luck does fly my way, huh ? Anyway this lot glows in the dark.....so my wrists will be glowing happy A.M. or P.M. (:

Perhaps the highlight of this all is that we went into a pet shop ^-^ and bought a wee gerbil. I couldn't keep it in the gaff so sis had to keep it at hers. We couldn't agree on giving whether to give the little gem a Chinese name or an English name (I wished the former, sis wanted the latter) so we ended up with both: "Gerbie" as the English name, and "jer jer" in Cantonese (Canto people know what I am talking about hahaha xD) before realising that the little "dude" is actually a dudette D: No worries, we stuck with the name anyway.

I couldn't find the Chinese writing for it, and even Mum doesn't know, but during my desperate and determined search for such characters, I came across this very interesting little site.....

http://alexchiu.com/

....which is probably something everybody already knew about and I'm all excited about it as if I just discovered penicillin. But yeah sure feel free to have a look and tell me what you think o.O

Oh, last but not least, this is Gerbie aka Jerjer

Big rain - welcome to Ireland, President Obama

In fact, I got woken up by the heavy rainwater gushing against my window this morning. I super-kid-like-excitedly legged over to the window, only to hear more obscene and degrading insults and shouting downstairs, and I quietly got back into bed, like the "good girl" I was brought up to be. Shortly followed by thundering footsteps and blasting radios to indicate he is not happy, he wants us up now. Now. And I ignored it.

Get up for what ? to hear more insults ? To live through my day in panic and constant fear ? To be trapped in my own home, not allowed to do this, not allowed to do that, only allowed to do...... do..............pathetic things like I am doing now. It is only when he slams his door shut do I feel at peace, that I feel the pressure lifting gently, that I feel a breath of fresh, relieved air. That I can smile and speak to her like you normally can in any given household.

Maybe I shouldn't complain. There are people much worse off than me. People who do not dare utter a sound for all they have suffered.....People who do not have the internet to tell you guys anything, to get things off their chest. People who cannot type, who are uneducated in any shape or form, people who do not realise they are being wronged. People who still live in an era.....not so much different to this:

YouTube: 半生缘/林心如 Ruby Lin

But I do. And though it may seem strange, guys, knowing is what hurt me most.

I used to not know. I used to go to school happy, be fairly happy at home, just the occasional beating, orcoming home to another lecture, everyday coming home and asking her if he has been giving out ? It was......good not to know. Then I grew up, started making closer friends, realised......this does not happen in other kids' homes.......I reflected, I got wise, I got hated even more in the household......and here I am now.

Sometimes I wonder.....what it's like to live without loathing, without fearing, without this constant stone of worry over my shoulders. Sometimes I wonder what it feels like to be able to do the little things you want to do without hiding, without desperately trying to make your own alternative ways to get around to them. Sometimes I wonder how I would be if I grew up in one of those families. Would my personality / viewpoints be any different ? Would my smile.....be more natural ?

I love the following song, especially sung by this lady.....and I hope to sing it someday for my wonderful mother....

YouTube: 鳳飛飛 - 掌聲響起

And last but not least.....NigaHiga's announcement on (spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)his(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)new(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)channel(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)(spoiler)....

Crappy Chats and the Birthday Blahs

So as you guys know, I've lived the past few days of my life as a moany hermit. With none of my friends online, I was left with the ehh opportunity to go into Chatrooms......and immediately regretted it. If I wasn't being bombarded with rather lude crude and uber uber ruuuuude requests for sexual contact of some form ranging from middle aged men to 15 year old teenage girls yes I said GIRLS and whatnot, I was driven into cyber battles and fights and picking on random people for sheer entertainment - how......insane is that guys.

Ok, though I do agree that the ever so infamously popular "hello how are you I am fine and you I am fine too good good" conversation needs some of Uncle Ben's seasonings, we need not reside to degrading people to get our laughs. Most of us -I said MOST- have a sense of humour.....some dryer than others.....we can all find some ways to work our cheek muscles. But bullying people is just not cool, however tempted you are. There's something about the degree of anonymity or lack of realism in sitting in front of the screen typing to strangers....and sometimes methinks we could forget that that dude /dudette getting your message is a real person. So I always gotta remind myself to try speak to people online as I would do when face-to-face........if I ever consider going back again jaysus flippin' christ. Then we might contribute to positive energy that can generate world peace and create ice and penguins will live again ._. ehhh.

Similarly, the comments on YouTube. Some of them are help videos...whats the point of people going on to it and cursing and saying ohh you suck I can do better than that.....If they're so good, why the hell are they watching the tutorials and stuff ? Criticism is one thing, being an asshole just isn't.

Random irrelevant input: I do note the minor changes on google and gmail and I'm not fond of them but it's ok ._.

No bashing on korean stuff but these are funny...

An Update from Prime Time Investigates - Dodgy Cabs....NCT revealed

As read in the Journal, three individuals employed by Applus at its National Car Test (NCT) centres have been sacked. These people have accepted bribes to allow cars pass the test when they clearly should not have. Eight NCT vehicle inspectors have been been suspended from the test centres following allegations made in RTÉ’s ‘Prime Time Investigates ‘Dodgy Cabs Ltd’ programme. Five staff have worked at a centre in the city and three others are believed to be from a centre in Meath have had action taken by Applus...but there was no talk about the managerial staff.

In a statement, the company said the National Car Testing Service is “committed to ensuring that any potential for fraudulent activity within the test system is eradicated”.  It added that investigations into the allegations made will continue in conjunction with a formal report submitted to the gardaí by NCTS.

Angered by the amount of blame put upon them by the company, some employees (unidentified) have stepped out to speak in the programme. Three key points are as follows:
  1. These employees claimed that they were supposed to test 16 cars within an 8-hour shift. However, if they had tested more cars, there will be bonus pay. In that case, less time would be used to check each car, which is can be unsafe and inaccurate, leaving out vital parts of the test. Anything less than a 15 minute test would be dangerous.
  2. Applus have stated that their testing equipment were efficient and up to date, but according to some employees, this was not the case. Certain machinery as tested by workers from the U.S. noted that they produced inaccurate results.
  3. Supervision was consistent, as per Applus' statement, but was much disagreed to by their employees. Apparently most supervisors have been too busy checking the cars; there was simply not enough time to supervise the employees.
So makes you wonder huh. What about those supervisors ? What about the managers who are supposed to organise their resources and people ? Doesn't "failure to manage staff" -as a vital component of management in virtually almost any field- pass as a sufficient reason for dismissal ? Shouldn't they take part of the blame too or are we going to stick with our normal way of dealing with bad managers - and leave them in their little game of monopoly ?

Just another humble opinion.

So Ireland got Visitors......and last minute NevO Nail Buffer review

.....and the country stands still ._. I'm not gonna dive into the political end of things....

Yeah. In fairness guys, I couldn't care less about the ins and outs of what's going on in our current situation. But to little, ignorant, "don't-give-a-damn-about-the-world-and-its-contents-and-issues" people like me....the roads are blocked, there could be bombs in places, and I can't go anywhere and that's all that bluddy matters.

So whilst this is so heartbreakingly unfairly occuring on the week of my one and only 2-week Annual Leave, and my mates are either abroad with their flashy bottles of SPF 15 sunscreen, or they're in their depths of depression in placement. Niiiiice.

So I decide to entertain myself this morning by the usual.....facebooking, chatting, mailing, YouTubing, downloading music.....and then I randomly found the NevO Dead Sea SPA nail buffer, poked my hands out the window, and buffed my nails shiny ^-^

In fact, I was so engrossed in the whole activity that I failed to realise the squeaky noise resulting from my vigorous nail buffing was having a rather intimate wee conversation with our morning garden bird.....

._.

Anyways I like the result so thanks to the guys who invented / took part in making / selling that awesome nail buffer from NevO Dead Sea SPA.....which also happens to be an occasional unintentional bird communicator o.O. Basically you use the black side first to buff across the top of each nail in both directions for 5-10 seconds to remove ridges and stains. Remember, only use this side once a month until the nail grows back again, otherwise it will make the nail thinner and prone to breaking. Then you use the green side to buff across the top of each nail in both directions for 10-15 seconds to stimulate growth. Repeat this step every two weeks. Use the white side for the magic to happen ! Buff each nail until you get shiny nails and attract a few birds.

Oh btw, I'm not affiliated with the company or anything. I'm just a satisfied customer (: who is locked inside the house for the forthcoming week or so grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! D:<

until next time,

Men.....I envy you -.- and other random talk

What better things to do on a Wednesday afternoon than to curl up like a worn-out shrimp on the bed, after doing little flips and moqi-style somersaults, gripping the heated laptop charger (no i do not have a hot water bottle - in fact, I barely even have hot water half the time) to my stomach, almost overdosing self on Solpadeine (get the patient information leaflet here), browsing endless YouTube videos to distract myself from the pain.......and complaining about life.

In plain simple and slightly offensive English I would be happy to have a wingdangdoodle instead of my current veejayjay for a week every month. But I'm sure that's not gonna happen....despite Jimmy Wong's words of wisdom to the world about not limiting yourself and strive for success, do what you want.....there are some things that just won't happen. Example: part-time sex change.

People usually zonk out a taaaad bit and edge slowly away from me after hearing my absurd request, but at that stage I couldn't give a flippin' rhinoceros' fungal toenail -.-

Prime Time Investigates - Dodgy Cabs Ltd.

Do you feel safe using an Irish taxi ? O.o

I'm a member of a minority of students who could barely afford to take public transport on a daily basis, and would use the no. 11 route (by foot) even in stormy situations. So, I'd always regarded taxis as a form of luxury, for the end of the month post payment treat, and of course luxury comes with comfort, safety, secureness.....right ?

To be honest, I had a pretty sleepless night last night, my mind racing after watching RTE Prime Time Investigates – entitled Dodgy Cabs Ltd.. Although I'm not a frequent taxi user, I was so, so enraged and disturbed by the findings plastered on the screen as reported by Paul Maguire.

I'll go easy on the shocking statistics -_-
  • One in seven licensed taxi drivers out on the roads today had had a criminal conviction, including violence and sexually-related offences. Wouldn't you love to be drunk going home from partying and getting into one of those taxis ?
  • ....................................................................................................................................
  • Bus driver by day, taxi driver by night. With barely enough time to nap, are these drivers putting passengers at risk ? As read on the Irish Examiner, "Prime Time Investigates also reported on one man who was driving 90 hours a week or more as a bus driver and as a taxi driver. The man was recorded working for 51 hours in three days." Taxi Regulator Kathleen Doyle commented "That particular situation is totally unacceptable and we wouldn’t support a situation where a driver endangers any member of the public. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure their position as a self-employed taxi driver is safe." Apparently taxi drivers cannot drive for more than 11 hours a day on any three consecutive days but that the regulator “can’t monitor what someone is doing in a full time job as we may not be aware of it”.
  • .....................................................................................................................................
  • License-expired drivers bearing the paraphernalia of a taxi including a sign on the roof of their minibus could happily drive your kids to and from school. The minibus has cleared to hold five people contained 13 kids squished / swaying inside. Yes, I'm sure their parents don't mind too much....
  • .....................................................................................................................................
  • You can easily rent out a taxi to drive random passengers. All you need is a drivers licence, insurance cover and 140 euro. Feck the legislation, the PSV licence, Tax Clearance Certificate and what not.
  • ......................................................................................................................................
  • Hello corruption. If you've got a seriously defective taxi vehicle, no worries. Just bribe your way into the NCT system and you'll pass with flying colours....all for just a mere 100euro. There was one car - a taxi that you and I may have sat in - that was so horrifically defected, it was too dangerous to even finish the private safety test, but was passed by the trustworthy NCT for an exchange of cash . As read in thejournal.ie, John Ussher of the Taxi Driver’s Federation told Morning Ireland that to see cars pass the NCT even though they are not roadworthy is “frightening”. He added that there are rules and laws in place “but you can’t legislate for the back door of the NCT”. He said that back door has to be closed and that as a representative body the federation “will look for meetings to prevent this sort of thing happening again”. Ussher added that “there’s not enough enforcement officers, there’s not enough enforcement” and that this has to be improved.
  • .......................................................................................................................................
  • There are 42000 licensed drivers, 25000 vehicles, and 9 inspectors for the whole lot of them. However these 9 inspectors do not check the safety of the vehicles because that is the reponsibility of the gardaí and the NCT, as according to Taxi Regulator Kathleen Doyle. Doesn't that raise a little alarm somewhere ?
On top of that I'm hating how people have a go at the "non-irish" and "foreigners" when the situation arises. It was funny and sad to watch one woman in the audience of The Frontline with Pat Kenny last night say that she'd be afraid to question the taxi drivers because they were foreign, or they don't speak good English. Then a rather gentlemanly Pakistani taxi driver with fairly good English was questioned regarding racism -.- I mean fair enough, if they don't know their way or something, yes they should not be driving a taxi, but being afraid of them ? Seriously, how much percentage of the crooks and rapist drivers are foreigners again ?

I'm also annoyed at how the interviews were refused at the time.....and how they got away with refusing it. Don't we, the general public of a "democratic country" deserve a little more explanation than that ? Maybe it's something to do with the immediate response to a mistake / attitude of pushing the blame onto something else. Y'know guys, the "I'm shocked on hearing that, I had no idea. I'll say I take part of the responsibility but a lot of it is beyond my control." OR "Ah we've done our best. Why give ourselves such a hard time, sure our system is already better than so-and-so, they're a lot worse off than us...." etc etc. I think what we really needed here is someone to stand up and say "ok, I'm sorry for causing so much distress, I am responsible. This should not have happened. I will take that on board and will aim to make the changes necessary to improve this situation ASAP". Then we'll be reassured. Then there will be development in this field. Then there will be a regrowth of belief in the system and we can proudly answer "YES !" to the opening question of this blog.

And much less of us folks having to watch over most of our innocent, hard-working, honest taxi drivers with curious, doubtful and slightly fearful paranoid eyes o.O

What the flip, people.

Don't talk to me about time management/organisation/effective communication. Like, EVER.

So I finally called the Tax Office this morning to sort out my sudden dip in payment the past 2 months due to emergency tax for freckall reason.

I don't know how the call system works in your country, but for us folks here, once you ring the number, you immediately get put on an incredibly longwinded intro/welcome. Then they ask for your personal identification number and repeat back and yaddayadda you've confirmed it, lets get to what you want. THEN they give you an even more longwinded choice of 8 wants, you either pick them, or say none of those and they transfer you to an operator. That's not over yet - you could be waiting up to 20 minutes for an answer. Talk about lack of people, waste of time, waste of money -.-

I was lucky to have waited 4 minutes, before a very worn out lady answered my call, only to say that there is nothing she could do, must be the payroll problem, but she'll snd a form out or something and we can only pray and eat rice and play happy bunnies before we see any result (ok, well, she didn't say that but yeah).

So I'm now waiting uncertainly for ......gawd knows what. Ugh. Itchy head much ?

I'm not wanting to get grrr at people working there, like I should know. As a student nurse, there is only so much you can do to help people. Everything else is just a lack of co-ordination, lack of resources......I don't know. At the end of the day you're just left with helpless workers who don't know what to do about the frecked up system, nothing done, and a very frustrated permanent customer. Because there is no other alternative.

Anyway.

Today's Likes:
Today's Dislikes:
  • Tax Office / Hospital Payroll miscommunication
  • Almost choking on own saliva
  • Jedward's supreme welcoming back to the country for coming 8th in the Eurovision song contest. Like, seriously peeps ?
  • Noise pollution
  • Pot noodles. You guys taste bleh not to mention very very bland
It's always good to get them off my chest ^^ Now I can happily breathe in the smell of horse manure while they are being tortured and beaten by ignorant violent pathetic school drop-outs outside the flats just around the block ._.

Nice day, children.

Lost Sheep

I'm feeling awful crappy right now and what better way to release negative energy than to bombard you, my fellow reader, you poor unfortunate soul with my spitballs of complaints......

I'll try make 'em snappy.

In an attempt to picture my misery in a less depressing light, consider a scrawny, inexperienced, tired and hungry lost sheep in the middle of the field.

The grass is in horrible condition and there's gonna be a storm. Soon. The clouds are forming and it's getting cold - a shelter would be the best option.....but where ? You are lost. You later find that you can choose between two places:
1. Your home in the barn with a family of sheep who dislike you for your scrawniness and your "supreme" stupidity (lolllll), who bully you and discriminate you, strip you of your rights and categorises you into these little boxes, awaiting the fate that had been playedout for him. Or
2. The farmer's hut, where he feeds you, but ill-treats you and prepares you for the market to be shaved / milked / slaughtered and sold.....

Which place should a sheep choose ?

Blogs are back oh joyful joyful !

....and starting my first day of holiday. Might work on a bit of hubbing, and although I say I'll do my assignments ASAP instead of doing another "little miss last minute moment heart skips a beat"........I very well may end up doing the latter ._.

Downloading some music on my beloved IPod using every single webtrick in the world cuz I'm too cheapstake to buy my own the proper "devoted fan" kinda way.......not that I'm a devoted fan of anyone. It all depends on my mood, and the song, do I like the beat etc etc, not the singer. And there's no point investing in albums......I end up only liking one or two songs - the others go flying out the window, into the trash and get driven off to some landfill site, never to be seen again.

"Ah crud I chucked away the wrong songggg...." >.>
meh. You'll find it somewhere <.<

Almost had another TIA*...

...when I realised my blogs since the 11th May have disappeared ! So as the cliche goes, when in doubt, Google it, and this enlightened me. Apparently Blogger had been having some technical difficulties, and in order to get back to normal, they removed all posts from 7:37am PT on Wednesday the 11th May. They expect everything to be back to normal soon. Blogger will remain in read-only mode until work is complete and they apologise for the problem.

Many thanks for the helpful post.

*TIA = transient ischemic attack. According to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001743/, it is an episode in which a person has stroke -like symptoms for up to 1-2 hours.
A TIA is often considered a warning sign that a true stroke may happen in the future if something is not done to prevent it.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is caused by temporary disturbance of blood supply to an area of the brain, which results in a sudden, brief decrease in brain function. (A decrease in brain function is called a neurologic deficit.)
A TIA is different than a stroke. Unlike from a stroke, a TIA does not cause brain tissue to die. The symptoms of TIAs do not last as long as a stroke and do not show changes on CT or MRI scans. (Strokes usually show changes on such tests.)
The temporary loss of blood flow to the brain can be caused by:
  • Blood clot within an artery of the brain
  • Blood clot that travels to the brain from somewhere else in the body (for example, the heart)
  • Injury to blood vessels
  • Narrowing of a blood vessel in the brain or leading to the brain
For instance, the temporary disruption in blood flow could be due to a blood clot that occurs and then dissolves. The blockage breaks up quickly and dissolves.
Less common causes of TIA include:
  • An irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation
  • Certain blood disorders, including polycythemia, sickle cell anemia, and syndromes where the blood is very thick
  • Conditions that cause blood vessels problems such as fibromuscular dysplasia, systemic lupus erythematosus, and syphilis
  • Inflammation of the arteries such as arteritis, polyarteritis, and granulomatous angiitis
  • Spasm of the small arteries in the brain
Atherosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries") is a condition where fatty deposits occur on the inner lining of the arteries. This condition dramatically increases the risk for both TIAs and stroke. Approximately 80-90% of people who have a stroke due to atherosclerosis had a TIA episode before.
Other risks for TIA include high blood pressure, heart disease, migraine headaches, smoking, diabetes, and increasing age.

Symptoms

Symptoms begin suddenly, last only a short time (from a few minutes to 1 to 2 hours), and disappear completely. They may occur again at a later time. Symptoms usually occur on the same side of the body if more than one body part is involved.
A TIA is different than a stroke. However, the symptoms of TIA are the same as a stroke and include the sudden development of:
  • Muscle weakness of the face, arm, or leg (usually only on one side of the body)
  • Numbness or tingling on one side of the body
  • Trouble speaking or understanding others who are speaking
  • Problems with eyesight (double vision, loss of all or part of vision)
  • Changes in sensation, involving touch, pain, temperature, pressure, hearing, and taste
  • Change in alertness (sleepiness, less responsive, unconscious, or coma)
  • Personality, mood, or emotional changes
  • Confusion or loss of memory
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Difficulty writing or reading
  • Lack of coordination and balance, clumsiness, or trouble walking
  • Abnormal sensation of movement (vertigo) or dizziness
  • Lack of control over the bladder or bowels
  • Inability to recognize or identify sensory stimuli (agnosia)

Signs and tests

TIAs do not show brain changes on CT or MRI scans. (Most strokes do show changes on such tests.) Because symptoms and signs may have completely disappeared by the time one gets to the hospital, a diagnosis of a TIA may be made on a person's medical history alone.
A physical examination should include a neurological exam, which may be abnormal during an episode but normal after the episode has passed.
Blood pressure may be high. The doctor will use a stethoscope to listen to your heart and arteries. An abnormal sound called a bruit may be heard when listening to the carotid artery in the neck or other artery. A bruit is caused by irregular blood flow. In some cases, low blood pressure may be seen before symptoms of a TIA occur.
Tests will be done to rule out a stroke or other disorders that may cause the symptoms.
  • Head CT scan or brain MRI is almost always done.
  • Angiogram, CT angiogram, or MR angiogram may be done.
  • An echocardiogram may be done if your doctor thinks you may have a blood clot from the heart.
  • Carotid duplex (ultrasound) can show if the carotid arteries in your neck have narrowed. Cerebral arteriogram reveals which blood vessels is blocked or bleeding.
  • EKG and heart rhythm monitoring may be done to check for irregular heart beats.
Additional tests and procedures may include:
Your doctor may use these tests to check high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and peripheral vascular disease.

Treatment

The goal is to prevent a stroke from occurring.
If you have had a TIA within the last 48 hours, you will likely be admitted to the hospital so that doctors can determine the cause and treatment.
Underlying disorders such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and blood disorders, should be treated appropriately.
Blood thinners, such as aspirin, may be prescribed to reduce blood clotting. Others include dipyridamole, clopidogrel, Aggrenox or heparin, Coumadin, or other similar medications. Treatment may be continued for an indefinite time period.
Surgery (carotid endarterectomy) may be appropriate for some people who have clogged neck arteries.
Smoking should be stopped.
Your health care provider may recommend a low-fat and low-salt diet. Other dietary changes may be recommended.

Expectations (prognosis)

TIAs do not cause lasting damage to the brain,
However, they are a warning sign that a true stroke may happen in the future. Over 10% of people who have TIA will have a stroke within 3 months. Half of these strokes happen during the 48 hours after TIA. The stroke may occur that same day or at a later time. Some people have only a single episode and some have recurrent episodes.
Your chances of a future stroke can be reduced by close follow-up with your health care provider to manage risk factors.

Complications

Complications of TIA include:
  • Death of brain cells due to too little blood flow to the brain
  • Injury that occurs from falls
  • Stroke

Calling your health care provider

TIA is a medical emergency. Call 911 or other local emergency number immediately. Do not ignore symptoms just because they go away. They may be a warning of a future stroke.

Prevention

Prevention of TIA includes controlling the risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and other associated disorders. Smoking should be stopped. See: Stroke risk factors and prevention
